Netflix's The Witcher is one of the most anticipated TV series of the year and it's set to premiere exclusively on the streaming platform later this year. If you're unfamiliar with the project, Henry Cavill will be taking the role of the legendary monster slayer Geralt and the first season will have eight episodes.
The TV series is mainly based on the books and it will also borrow some minor details from the games, but don't expect it to be similar to CD Projekt Red's creation. According to some earlier reports, Netflix already had plans for the second season but between the first and second season, they also have a special project in works to keep the fans busy while they wait for more live-action Witcher.
According to NSFW blog Recapped, the streaming giant could be working on an animated series set in the world of The Witcher. The rumour claims that Netflix were casting for voice actors a while back but unfortunately, Recapped are not sure if this is still in the works.
"No news on season 2 of The Witcher. However, they were casting for an animated series set in the world of The Witcher and featuring some side characters a while back. The plan was to make this available on Netflix sometime between season 1 and 2. No idea whether or not this is still happening," it's written in the blog post.
Now, just like any other rumour, leak or unconfirmed info, take this report with a grain of salt. That being said, Recapped successfully leaked several details about Netflix's The Witcher TV series in the past, including the cast and a release window.
Whether Netflix announce the animated series soon, it remains to be seen, but to us, it does sound like a potentially great move and with Netflix's success with another game adaptation - Castlevania - we just can't hold our excitement for another animated series, especially the one from The Witcher universe.
