Netflix have officially confirmed that their upcoming The Witcher animated series will follow the story of Vesemir and his Witcher path, long before he mentored Geralt.
Earlier this month, Netflix officially announced plans to bring animated The Witcher series named Nightmare of the Wolf. Not a lot has been said about the series' story then but today, we have an official synopsis which reveals that the story will follow Vesemir and his Witcher path before he mentored Geralt.
"Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise," it is written in the synopsis.
This may come as a disappointment to those who expected another Geralt story but it is safe to say that many will appreciate Netflix's choice. For example, many fans of CD Projekt Red's RPG would love to see Vesemir story in the next Witcher game so Nightmare of the Wolf animated series will certainly be welcomed.
For those who are not familiar with Vesemir, he is a father figure to Geralt and other witchers at Kaer Morhen. He is also one of the oldest and most experienced witchers in the novels.
Vesemir appeared in The Witcher and The Witcher 3 games but his story was never really explored that much in the games, which should give Netflix a lot of freedom when it comes to creating new stories.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is coming to Netflix later this year and will act as a bridge between the first and second season of The Witcher live-action series.
