Starbreeze Studios' financial issues are widely known by now and they have started selling assets to keep afloat as long as possible. Rockstar Games took the first bite and bought the company's India-based studio Dhruva Interactive.

Starbreeze Studios have been struggling for a while now. The issues kicked off with the failure of Overkill's The Walking Dead and continued through the legal issues certain key people within Starbreeze had that resulted in a raid on the studio's offices .

It was recently made public that Starbreeze is grasping at straws to survive until the end of the year and one of the ways to manage that is selling off the company's assets.

Rockstar Games made the headlines first as they purchased Starbreeze's 91.82 per cent share of Dhruva Interactive, the India-based studio that specialised in the art for games.

According to the official announcement, Rockstar paid a preliminary price of $7.9 million and the deal is expected to close before the half-year of 2019. Furthermore, 15 per cent of the purchase price will be held in escrow for 36 months. Half of that will be released in 18 months.

Dhruva may not have many games developed under their belt but their portfolio is rather impressive in the art section. Their work can be seen in the likes of Halo 5, Forza Motorsport 7, Days gone, Sea of Thieves as well as some not-really-popular titles such as Fallout 76.

Needless to say, their clients included some of the most well-known studios and publishers of the modern gaming era. Ubisoft, Sony, Capcom, Bethesda, Obsidian Entertainment and EA are just a part of the list of Dhruva's clients

One interesting bit is that Dhruva Interactive is located in Bangalore where Rockstar India already have their own offices, which could hint at their wish to increase the company's influence in one of the two most inhabited countries in the world.
