The word of Runeterra has so much untapped potential, that even Riot Games are unable to make use of it all. So, they are leaning on others to do so in their place, a practice that brought us Arcane.
Arcane is an animated series set in the universe of League of Legends and primarily focuses on sisters Vi and Jinx, two champions in the game. The series was announced at the League of Legends 10th anniversary celebration in 2019 and first released in November 2021.
Ever since its release the series has not only found success with those playing League of Legends but also with the people that have never even heard of the game, bringing League of Legends to a much wider audience.
Now, Riot Games have announced a new equity investment to the studio that's responsible for the creation of Arcane, Fortiche Productions.
“Fortiche has been an integral partner for a long time, but this agreement ensures we’ll be working closely for decades to come,” said Nicolo Laurent, CEO of Riot.
He continues on to say that they hold a high bar for everyone they work with and insist they understand players deeply and focus on them relentlessly, and from day one, Fortiche has exemplified Player Experience First. In working with Fortiche, they have collaborated to push the boundaries of what’s possible and raise expectations for how games can be represented in media.
And as proud as they are of Arcane, he points out that the best is yet to come. We are unsure whether this pertains to ARcane's season 2, or something completely new, but whatever the case, we are definitely looking forward to it.
