Bluehole have released another update for PlayerUnknown's Battleground on the game's test server. The patch introduces a brand new feature named Weapon Mastery, a progression system that rewards players as they level up their gunplay skills

The latest update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is now live on the game's test server and it's scheduled to arrive on live servers "very soon" it's been confirmed in the latest announcement.

According to the official patch notes, the update introduces a brand new feature to PUBG, named Weapon Mastery. It's a progression system that allows players to check out detailed gun stats and earn free rewards as they level up their gunplay skills.

Each gun will have 100 levels and offer three types of Weapon Mastery rewards. You can earn these through Mastery achievements and they include Charms, Medals and Tier Emblems.

To earn Weapon XP, you simply have to deal damage, headshots and defeats. The latter is a new term used for tracking actions that include knockdowns, killing the last member of a team and killing solo players. Also, you can earn extra weapon XP based on the distance of defeats.

Weapon Mastery does not count road kills, friendly fire, throwables or melee damage.

Along with the brand new feature, the latest PUBG update also brings the second round of Erangel loot rebalances, as well as improvements to some sounds and effects related to gameplay.

The total amount of items spawned in Erangel map has been boosted by approximately 28 per cent, while the overall amount of items spawned, especially the spawn rates of higher priority items has also been increased. Below you can check the increased spawn rates for weapons and other items.

  • Assault rifles spawn rate has been increased by approx 64 per cent.
