Pokemon Sword and Shield games have outsold Pokemon Let's Go titles in Japan just ten days after the official launch. Sword and Shield titles are inching closer to 2 million sold units in the first month.
Prior to their realease, Pokemon Sword and Shield titles have been the most anticipated Pokemon games of all time. The initial sales showed that Pokemon Sword and Shield are going to break almost every sales record and according to the latest numbers, that could happen during the launch month.
The impressive sales continued in Japan in the second week and in just ten days, Sword and Shield have outsold the previous entries, Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!
It's not even a contest, Sword and Shield absolutely dominated the previous titles with 382,540 sold units, which means that a total sale number has grown to 1,740,084. That is just a staggering number for a title that released less than two weeks ago.
The sales are even more impressive since the numbers only account for physical cartridges and download cards, which means that the total number is much closer to 2 million.
When compared to Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! the winner is more than clear. Both of these titles sold 1,661,155 units as of last week, and these debuted over a year ago. Yes, Pokemon Sword and Shield outsold Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! total sales only ten days after the launch. Let that sink in.
While the latest Pokemon titles are doing extremely well, many fans are a bit disappointed with the games and feel that Game Freak could have done a lot better. However, despite this, both the developer Game Freak and the publishers Nintendo and The Pokemon Company will certainly be happy with the overall performance of the games.
