Niantic have posted their plans for the next Community Day in Pokemon GO and we now know it features Piplup, Penguin-like Water-type Pokemon, and what seems to be a first for the game - different schedule for different hemispheres.
We haven't seen Niantic do this before, but obviously the plan is to hit the highest traffic hours so if you've been calling for this, this is your lucky Poke-day. Or a month.
Anyway, January 2020 Community Day kicks off on 19 January. Northern hemisphere's event lasts from 11am to 2pm, whereas the southern hemisphere is from 3pm to 6pm.
We've got the standard Pokemon GO bonuses like 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance, which lets you amp up your hatching, and 3-Hour Lures.
Needless to say, you have a chance to catch a Shiny version but note that Niantic didn't officially confirm the Community Day move for Piplup. It's widely expected that it will be Hydro Cannon, which is what the rest of Water-types get, but treat that as speculation until it gets an official confirmation.
As for Piplup, this Water-type Pokemon evolves into Prinplup and its final evolution, Empoleon, which will give you the special move, whichever it ends up being.
"Fast TMs and Charged TMs will not grant exclusive moves during Community Day. To learn the exclusive move, you must catch or evolve the featured Pokemon during Community Day hours", the dev wrote.
Pokemon GO has had quite a year in 2019, with Niantic launching 100 new Pokemon species, with 116 regular forms and 201 shiny ones. Additionally, the game finally unclocked all Johto-region Pokemon species, which is the second region to do so after Kanto in 2018.
