Pokemon Go - 2020 event schedule and details

With 2019 coming to an end, Pokemon Go is already ramping up to bring us more events and rewards in the New Year. 2020 will see a new Special Research event, the return of some special Lapras, the Adventure Sync Hatchathon and more.

Pokemon Go's final event for 2019 is wrapping up and now we can look ahead to 2020. Permission granted to get excited about the following events and features:

  • More Team GO Rocket Special Research
  • January Research Breakthrough encounter: Lapras that know Ice Shard and Ice Beam
  • The egg-citing Adventure Sync Hatchathon is back
  • Heatran blazes back into raids
  • Unova nouveau in the new year

January Team GO Rocket Special Research

The month of January will bring with it the new Special Research. The event will help Professor Willow and the team leaders take down Team GO Rocket. 

You will be given a chance to fight Giovanni and save another Legendary Pokemon: Shadow Moltres. Be sure to keep an eye out for a new Team GO Rocket Special Research from Professor Willow every month. More information right through here .

January Research Breakthrough encounters: Lapras that know Ice Shard and Ice Beam

Starting on Wednesday, 1 January 2020 at 9:00 pm GMT until Saturday, 1 February 2020 9:00 pm GMT, Lapras that know Ice Shard and Ice Beam will be available as Research Breakthrough encounters. 

This is the first time these particular Lapras will be available in Pokemon Go since 2018.

The egg-citing Adventure Sync Hatchathon is back

The Adventure Sync Hatchathon event will return on Thursday, 2 January 2020 at 9:00 pm GMT. The event will end on 16 January 2020 at 9:00 pm GMT. 

During the Adventure Sync Hatchathon, you can be rewarded with extra Stardust, Rare Candies, and an Unova Stone if you walk a certain distance. You’ll be able to find Pokemon wearing party hats by hatching Eggs and encountering Pokemon in the wild, as well.

Heatran blazes back into raids

Tuesday, 7 January 2020 will mark the return of Heatran to five-star raids. You also have a chance to encounter a Shiny Heatran during the event that will come to an end on 4 February 2020.

Unova nouveau in the new year

'Twas some time ago when the Pokemon from the Unova region first came to Pokemon Go. The reports of this happening again in 2020 have begun swirling and we'd recommend keeping your eyes peeled. More information on this is coming soon.
