People Can Fly, known for high octane shooters like Painkiller, Bulletstorm and Gears of War, announced Outsiders on E3 2019. Not much was known about until a teaser for a reveal stream popped up, offering some details.
Outriders' teaser trailer at E3 2019 didn't exactly cause too much hype as those who saw it were presented to something new, with no hint of gameplay. That stands to change on 13 February 2020, when People Can Fly and Square Enix will reveal the co-op shooter that is meant for next-gen consoles.
That said, there are a few details that are available about the game right now. The story is that the game is set on planet Enoch, where humans came to escape the dying Earth. However, it had some unidentified matter all over the place which made humans less, well, human and gave them superpowers.
In gameplay terms, that means we are looking at a shooter with abilities, a la Destiny or Borderlands. Outriders will be an up to three players co-op RPG, meaning you can pick it up with friends, random people you meet online or go at it alone.
As for the available platforms, since Outriders will be released during Holiday Season of 2020, it will be available to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X but also the current generation of consoles.
PC players don't really have generation limits but the ongoing topic is the store wars between Epic Games and Steam. At the time of writing, Steam was the only store that was listed on the official website .
If you are not familiar with the works of People Can Fly, they are the guys who made some of the best shooters of mid-2000s onwards. These include Painkiller series as well as Bulletstorm. They also worked on the first three parts of Gears of War in cooperation with Epic Games and later worked on Fortnite: Save the World.
Outriders gameplay will be revealed on Thursday, 13 February 2020 on Square Enix's Twitch channel at 9:00 PM CET / 12:00 PM PT (noon).
