Koei Tecmo have released a fresh batch of Nion 2 screenshots and it's safe to say that the sequel looks like a proper upgrade over the original game.

Koei Tecmo have been pretty quiet about their action RPG Nioh 2, which is coming in just a couple of months. Yesterday, the pre-orders went live along with the reveal of Special Edition of the game. According to the publisher, this marks the start of a big marketing campaign for Nioh 2 and players can look forward to new details every week from now until the official release.

Today, Koei Tecmo released brand new, gorgeous-looking screenshots, revealing one of the game's bosses Saika Magoichi. He is the predecessor of Shigetomo who you probably know from the first game. You can take a look at the boss in the image below.

The majority of screenshots focuses on combat and cool combat effects as you can see in the gallery. Judging by the screenshots Nioh 2 is a big upgrade on its predecessor in terms of visual fidelity. However, we should wait for the release to see just how big the difference actually is.

In addition to screenshots, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo confirmed that Nioh 2 is in its final phase of development. This usually means that the devs are now working on polishing and bug fixing before the game officially gets gold status.

All in all, we can expect a lot more Nioh 2 content from now on as Koei Tecmo ramp up the promotion. Hopefully, new trailers and gameplay footage arrive too.

Nioh 2 is hitting the shelves on 13 March 2020 for PlayStation 4. The PC version is yet to be officially announced.
