When will Genshin Impact launch on Nintendo Switch?

Looks like the developer and publisher of Genshin Impact are having some issues with the Switch port of their hit game, due to the weaker hardware of Nintendo's console.

Mihoyo's action role-playing game is a big hit on PlayStation 4 console and Windows PC, not to mention mobile phones, but Switch owners are still waiting for the free-to-play open-world game to arrive, and by the looks of it, they'll have to wait a bit more.

Genshin Impact is a really gorgeous game, with fun gameplay and triple-A production, and the best part is that it's completely free. The Japanese developer and publisher miHoYo are kings of mobile gaming and with their first step into console gaming, there are doing more than great. Genshin Impact is producing them a lot of money, and with almost 100M Switch consoles sold worldwide, it would be crazy not to release it on the Nintendo's money-making console too.

But, we're all still waiting, even though Genshin Impact has been announced for Switch. The latest news (or rumours, if you will) are telling us that the reason behind this delay is the weaker hardware of the Switch console.

Nintendo never builds a powerful console, and their intention is never to compete with the raw power of the new Xbox and PlayStation consoles or PC rigs, but their latest gaming console still sells like hotcakes and even outsells the competition regularly.

There have been some speculations that the release is delayed due to the launch of the alleged Switch Pro console, but that kind of exclusivity could hurt both miHoYo's and Nintendo's pockets. There is a number of games/ports on Switch are having difficulties performance-wise, but they are still played by millions.

We'd love to see miHoYo's hit on a Switch handheld system, with cross-progression and cross-platform supported but looks like we'll have to wait a bit more for it to happen.

Genshin Impact is available since September 28, 2020, for Android, iOS, PS4 and PC, and the PS5 version was released last month, on April 28.

The developer doesn't have plans to release Genshin Impact on the Xbox platform.
