The photo above was shared on reddit with many fans asking Insomniac Games where the image came from and if it is actually legitimate. Insomniac were quick to react and shut down the rumour by stating it was a photoshopped image with no credibility, and that fans should wait for official news about the game.
The game was announced on E3 2017, with a planned release date for Q2 2018. The second quarter ends near the end of June, so we can expect a release perhaps on the aforementioned photo. 22 June 2018 would mark the end of the second quarter, so it's entirely possible for it to be true, but Insomniac merely trying to snuff out the fake hype going around the internet recently.
Spider-Man will feature players donning the outfit of the friendly neighbourhood hero in a third person perspective. The showcase video shows web-slinging and fighting enemies will be alike the Batman Arkham series, but with a spidey flare no doubt.
Sony Interactive Entertainment
Insomniac showed a true Spider-Man feeling of the game with their video, but have since been mainly silent about the game, so it's no surprise that future players and fans alike are trying to get the hype train going for the PS4.
If the planned release date stands, we are looking at a mid-summer release in a rational case scenario. As mentioned, the game will be a PlayStation 4 Exclusive with no planned release on other consoles.
