Anyone who watched Yu-Gi-Oh! will know Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl are among Yami Yugi's favourite cards. The new screenshots from Jump Force show him displaying exactly those cards in play, along with Slifer the Sky Dragon.
Bandai Namco have posted new screenshot showcasing Yami Yugi in their upcoming crossover brawler Jump Force. The reactions from fans so far can be summed up in three groups - those who mourn they didn't get to see Celtic Guardian yet, those who are worried Exodia might not make an appearance and those who are cheering on Bandai Namco for sticking with Dark Magician Girl's original look.
Those who are unaware, Dark Magician Girl was altered for American audience where her breast size was lowered due to censorship and Jump Force will feature the original, Japanese version of the character where they are in the original size, as you can see below.
Silfer the Sky Dragon doesn't have an in-game picture yet unfortunately, other than the promo group picture above. Dark Magician, however, can be seen in his full glory on Bandai Namco's official Facebook page .
Some fans have raised concerns over whether the monsters will be actually playable or if they will simply serve as AI helpers, since something similar has already happened with Death Note's characters in Jump Force who are actually entirely unplayable.
Then again, it would be hard to imagine Yami Yugi going toe to toe with Goku or Vegeta without the help of supernatural creatures, be it a fearsome dragon or a magician with sizeable lung covers.
The description on one of the pictures on Bandai Namco's Facebook announcement states that these three cards will indeed be the only ones Yami Yugi will be able to summon, meaning Exodia will indeed not appear as a combat utility but that makes sense, since Ryuk has been sidelined for largely the same reason - being too overpowered to be simply fought by other puny combatants.
Either way, Jump Force is shaping up to be anime fan's treat and there is no doubt all eyes will be peeled on this particular game during Tokyo Game Show, which starts on Thursday, 20 September 2018.
