The next Mortal Kombat game is apparently a reboot of the series and it's targeting September 2023 release date, according to the most recent rumours and leaks.
Following the leaks that revealed the pricing, platforms and editions of Mortal Kombat 1 , which is the name of the next Mortal Kombat game from NetheRealm , we have even more interesting rumours that reveal the target release date for the game.
According to a Windows Central report , Mortal Kombat 1 is currently targeting September 2023 release window. The game is launching on PC , PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch as per the earlier leak.
Warner Bros. are yet to officially unveil the Mortal Kombat 1 reboot but the announcement is expected the PlayStation Showcase, which is set to air later this month, according to various reports.
Looking at the September 2023 releases, Mortal Kombat 1 won't have a lot of competition as the only major AAA release that month is Bethesda's Starfield, a game from a completely different genre that certainly won't take away any potential players from Mortal Kombat 1.
Street Fighter 6 will have a head start though, thanks to its June 2023 launch while Tekken 8 still does not have a specific release date. We only know it should be coming sometime in 2023 but don't be surprised if it slips into 2024.
