Capcom have officially announced Monster Hunter: World's expansion dubbed Iceborne for autumn 2019 and now the game's producer Ryozo Tsujimoto gave an interview, shedding more light on what awaits the game in its maiden expansion.
Tsujimoto said Iceborne is an attempt to broaden the Monster Hunter: World experience and as such has its own story, which of course picks up after the base game. "It offers new gameplay elements which can be utilized in the base Monster Hunter: World game as well", he added.
According to Tsujimoto, Capcom have "taken into account a lot of the feedback from the community", so they're confident that Iceborne will hit the spot. Note however that Iceborne's content will not match the original Monster Hunter: World's in size, but should be pretty big.
As for actual novelties that Iceborne brings, Tsujimoto said that Capcom will be introducing a new quest rank. As you'd expect, Monster Hunter: World will be getting a bunch of new monsters but if you're looking forward to seeing some old faces, you'd do well to inspect the trailer a bit closer.
Of course, there's plenty to go until Iceborn lands for Monster Hunter: World players and Capcom have got a lot in store until then. Arch Tempered Kulve Taroth is slated for 20 December 2018 while the Appreciation Fest, a special in-game festival, is coming in January 2019 as a celebration of the game's console launch.
Tsujimoto also reminded that The Witcher's beloved protagonist is coming to Monster Hunt: World and that the mixing of RPG elements with MH:W gameplay will be a blast. "We couldn’t have done it, of course, without the close collaboration of CD Projekt Red. We’re still working with them right now on the content and I think you’re really going to enjoy it", he said.

The last noteworthy event before Iceborne launches will be Nergigante's arrival in spring of 2019. Tsujimoto says that the "quest is going to mark the end of the new event quests for the base game". Capcom will then be rotating earlier quests until Iceborne has landed.
