But he hates portals?

CD Projekt Red and Capcom officially confirmed The Witcher 3 and Monster Hunter World crossover is set to release as a free update in 2019. The White Wolf will be a fully playable character, with his unique fighting style and signs spells.

For a guy who hates portals, Geralt is using them quite a lot recently. After his appearance in Soul Calibur 6, the Butcher of Blaviken is set for another surprise crossover. This time he'll take on creatures of Monster Hunter World as Capcom and CD Projekt Red officially confirm the collaboration.

The "big surprise" was teased at The Games Awards show when Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said that the company will soon reveal something that would make the fans very happy. Fast forward to 10 December 2019 and Capcom confirms that Geralt will be a fully playable character with his signature moves, fighting style and sign spells.

Players will take on a new Witcher-inspired questline which will create a "unique gameplay experience" blending The Witcher 3's RPG mechanics with Monster Hunter World's game systems. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that an assortment of Geralt's monster hunting equipment will be available but at the moment we don't know if players will be able to craft Witcher gear and swords.

With the questline confirmed, we wonder if other iconic characters from The Witcher series will make guest appearances in Monster Hunter World. Maybe teaming up with Vesemir and taking down some flying creatures? Or fighting frost monsters with Ciri? We would certainly enjoy those.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt crossover will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2019 and just like every bit of content before this one, the free update will arrive on PC at later date. More info about the exact release date and a closer look at new quest, weapons and equipment will be coming soon.

This will be the third collaboration for Monster Hunter World. Previously, players had the chance to fight unique monsters from Capcom's MegaMan and FinalFantasy XIV. The collaboration announcement comes along with the official reveal of the next major Monster Hunter World expansion dubbed Iceborne which comes Fall 2019.
