4A Games announced they will be adding an Enhanced Edition of Metro Exodus on PC and not just upgrade the regular version.
Metro Exodus already has breathtaking scenery but 4A Games are looking to lean into the eye candy as hard as they can with the Enhanced Edition. This version was already announced for consoles and is said to be running at 4K/FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with fully Ray Traced lighting. Xbox Series X will have 1080p at 60 FPS but will also feature raytracing.
Now the devs are trying to bring the same thing to PC where some additional features will be available. These are advanced ray-traced reflections and DLSS 2.0 support, the latter of which is particularly important for that extra smooth performance.
That said, the Enhanced Edition will be a standalone product and 4A stated this would not be a simple patch to the base game. It will not be a good thing for the newcomers who might upgrade their hardware to support raytracing in the future but it will still be great for those who already own the base game.
The reason is that those who own Metro Exodus on Steam, GOG or Epic Games Store will get the Enhanced Version at no extra charge, just like it is the case with the consoles. Therefore, if you bought the game already and upgraded to an RTX card in the meantime, you will have a lot to look forward to in the future.
