Hangar 13 and 2K Games have announced that Mafia: Definitive Edition will be pushed back in order to ensure a smooth launch, and the new date is September 25, 2020.

According to the two, most of the planned work has been done but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has put the earlier date, August 28, under question, so they'd rather play it safe.

Considering everything that's been going on lately it's perfectly understandable, and the dev stressed that they'd rather not be compromising theier artistic vision for Mafia: Definitive Edition.

From the beginning, this has been a passion project for us. Many of our developers helped create the original Mafia, and all of us are committed to crafting an updated experience worthy of that timeless classic. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make Mafia: Definitive Edition the very best it can be for all of our fans worldwide", they wrote.

Thankfully, Hangar 13 and 2K won't leave us high and dry, and they promised an extended loo at Mafia: Definitive Edition gameplay in two weeks, more precisely on July 22.

Until then, they posted a short teaser, whose lighting and lightning look gorgeous. Okay, now we can't wait again.

Just in case you haven't been following the development, you should know Hangar 13 didn't merely up the resolution and call it a day. Mafia: Definitive Edition comes with an expanded story, although you shouldn't notice any radical difference.

Mafia: Definitive Edition also boasts all-new assets built from scratch for this purpose, and while it may not sound important, it definitely helps with performance when everything is up to date.
