"The great fires of the Iron Banner will burn again as Guardians face off against each other for bragging rights and new rewards", Bungie wrote, and Saladin's first appearance in the Season of the Undying will have users earning the Iron Will armour set, which you can check out below. The timing is as follows:
Iron Banner and Valor Bonus
- Start: 10am PDT on 15 October
- End: PDT on 22 October
Bungie tweaked the way you'll be getting Iron Banner rewards, starting with a new Seasonal pursuit, which you'll have to complete before being able to buy Lord Saladin's packages.
Note that this pursuit is character-based and rewards the new S8 armour set. Each step of the pursuit will be earning you Iron Banner weapons or armour, and the progress is tracked throughout Destiny 2's Season of the Undying, even if you haven't acquired the pursuit yet.
All the Destiny 2 goodies are obtained from matches and bounties until you've completed the Seasonal pursuit. Bungie added the following:
- All rewards are weapons until the Seasonal pursuit is complete
- The existing seven bounties that offered powerful rewards have been adjusted to offer pinnacle rewards (960 Power max,) but only four are available per event
Some Destiny 2 players apparently encountered a bug that allows more than four bounties offered as pinnacle rewards to be completed during a single event, and Bungie says they're tracking it at the moment.
Note that Heavy ammo spawning changes (see below) will apply as of the next Iron Banner.
During the week, Bungie updated Destiny 2 to reduce the amount of Heavy ammo spawning in the Crucible, affecting Control, Clash and Supremacy.
"Survival will soon have heavy ammo spawn in at 60 seconds and then again 60 seconds later just as the tiebreaker objective spawns. It is currently spawning in at 30 seconds and then every 60 seconds. The amount of heavy ammo granted will be reduced to match the amounts in Elimination and the 6v6 modes", they wrote.
