Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng has been benched on the Team Liquid roster as the player is trying to find his motivation for the LCS spring split. He made no mentions of the current roster not filling his principles.
Team Liquid tends to feature some of the best talents in LCS, such as the former world champion, Impact, in top lane and easily the most famous bot laner in the history of competitive League of Legends in North America, Doublelift.
The latter has run into a rough patch performance-wise as the player admitted himself that he lacks motivation for the Spring split. As a result, Team Liquid decided to try some of their other options and Doublelift ended up on the bench for the matches against 100 Thieves and Team SoloMid. Keep in mind that he was ill recently, which probably had an impact on the decision as well.
Edward "Tactical" Ra was the one filling Doublelift's shoes and Team Liquid's roster change seems to have paid off as they rampaged through both of these teams, with their kill/death ratio eventually becoming 21-1 in the two games combined.
On 4 March 2020, Team Liquid announced they are going to field Tactical in the upcoming weekend as well but they will keep evaluating both his and Doublelift's performance on a per-week basis. This will be the team's criteria for the upcoming weeks when it comes to deciding who is the starting ADC.
Doublelift's own statement on the situation was rather professional, admitting again that he had no motivation until recently. However, the newfound motivation was impeded by his inability to compete due to illness but he promised to try harder in the future, hoping to return to the starting roster once again.
