Studio Deck Nine revealed a few new details about the upcoming game Life is Strange: Double Exposure and showed 18 minutes of gameplay footage.
The new game Life is Strange: Double Exposure from Square Enix will continue the story of the original Life is Strange game from 2015 will show us a new chapter in the life of Max Caulfield. This is the first time that the Life is Strange games will feature a main character from previous games, and that brings with it certain questions.
One of the most important is definitely what happened with Max's friend Chloe at the end of the first game. Without spoiling anything, the first Life is Strange had two different endings and it was never said which one was canon because that story wasn't meant to get a sequel.
The developers of the new game have decided that they will respect the player's decision, so they say that the canon of the story is whatever the player chose at the end of the first game. In particular, Max will mention Chloe at one point in Double Exposure, and the player will have the option of choosing in the retelling of what happened, that is, it will be possible to confirm which ending you chose in the first game.
In addition to explaining the link to the first game, the developers showed 18 minutes of gameplay from the opening chapter. There we have the opportunity to see some new mechanics, such as taking photos, but also the plot of the story itself, which culminates in the death of Max's new friend Safi.
The developers also confirmed that the gameplay in Double Exposure will not include the "time rewind" mechanic from the first Life is Strange game. Instead, Max will use a new method of traveling between multiple different timelines
