Akali's VO update received significant backlash from the League of Legends community, and it seems that Riot are taking heed and listening to what the player base wants.

Akali's voice-over in League of Legends was, at first, marketed as something coming with the Star Guardian event. Or, that was how the player base understood it. After all, it's not even close to being the first time a new skin got a completely new VO.

However, Riot Games have, instead, changed the entire VO of Akali, including all of her skins besides just Star Guardian, which sparked the outrage of the League community.

However, just a few days after the initial outrage, they decided to revert Akali back to her original voice lines, which were done by Krizia Bajos. These voice lines have a quiet intensity to them, which is something League players feel describe Akali the best.

On the other hand, while Ashley Burch is a well-respected voice-over artist, who has given her voice to quite a few videogame characters, her own portrayal was not hitting the particular note the players are used to hearing when playing Akali.

And, while it's foolish to talk about tastes, Akali is a League of Legends champion with her own Legacy in the game. Throughout the literal years she has been present in the game, she has managed to develop her own personality among the playerbase, and any changes from the norm were bound to be poorly received.

However, the new voice lines can still be heard with her Star Guardian skin, and for that particular one, they work splendidly.
