Ever since Riot Games released the durability update to League of Legends with patch 12.10, all champions that relied on burst damage, whether it was magical or physical in nature were gutted.
The ones that felt it the most were the assassins that build lethality, but champions like Caitlyn are the next in the line. So, in patch 12.16, Riot have buffed her crit build, to allow her more leeway in the early game.
"Caitlyn is a step behind other current top tier marksmen, especially when compared to those that scale heavily with attack speed. We want to emphasize the more unique parts of her crit-heavy builds, so we’re giving her more crit synergies to help her hit a little harder."
The changes have her passive AD ratio increased, and her ultimate now has bonus damage that scales with critical strike chance:
- PASSIVE - HEADSHOT
- ATTACK DAMAGE RATIO 60/85/110% (based on level) ⇒ 60/90/120% (based on level)
- R - ACE IN THE HOLE
- NEW - SHARP SHOOTIN Damage is now increased by 0-25% based on current critical strike chance
These changes will allow Caitlyn a quicker powerspike in the early game, and make her ultimate able to actually snipe a target before her core build is completed.
As for the rest, she has always been a late-game monster, so further buffs are unneeded. As long as she can actually get to late game, that is, and these buffs allow her to.
