The Darkin have always been one of the most mysterious lineages in League of Legends lore, and it looks like Riot Games could be on the verge of adding another character. According to the latest champion leaks, the next champion could be Zaahen, a Darkin connected to the strange glaive teased in Riot’s in-client minigame, The Demon’s Hand.
Speculation around this new champion candidate has been going on for a while now, after the game started dropping clues about a potential link between Ionia, Atakhan, and a lost weapon wielded by a Darkin. Community leakers have now put forward a name that could be this wielder of the glaive - Zaahen, which could be a bruiser-style champion meant for the jungle or top lane.
Nothing has been confirmed just yet, but leaks regarding potential abilities for Zaahen have started rolling in as well, which is already ramping up excitement about the possibility of a new champion with unique gameplay mechanics and an interesting story tie-in to the larger Darkin mystery.
Zaahen’s Leaked Abilities
According to reliable community sources, Zaahen’s kit focuses on sustain, crowd control, and mobility.
Furthermore, his design blends mechanics seen in champions like Aatrox, Leona, and Kayn while introducing new twists.
- Passive: Zaahen builds stacks during combat. At max stacks, he gains Lifesteal and can revive himself — reminiscent of Aatrox’s old passive but with a stacking mechanic.
- Q: Empowers his auto attack to reset and Stun or Knock Up enemies, similar to Xin Zhao or Leona’s Q.
- W: Pulls enemies toward him while passively granting Lifesteal, much like Darius’ Apprehend.
- E: Executes a small dash that slashes enemies around him, dealing area damage in the style of Kayn’s Reaping Slash.
- R:His ultimate still remains a mystery.
League of Legends Zaahen leaked in-game visuals
Here is a sneak peek of Zaahen, League’s newest upcoming Darkin Champion and fans aren't really satisfied. Fans on social media are saying (and I agree) that the champion looks like a mix of Galio and Viego. Big Bad Bear provided the first in-game looks for Zaahen.
Lore Connections and Potential Release Date
The first pieces of lore breadcrumbs came in the form of The Demon’s Hand minigame, which featured Leblanc and Vladimir interrogating Atakhan for information about the Darkin Glaive.
Now that the weapon has been confirmed as having been stashed away in Ionia, the ground is ripe for predictions about Riot’s next champion. If it does pan out, Zaahen will be sure to expand on the Darkin lore while also tying into the events occurring within Ionia.
Predictions for when Zaahen could drop don’t currently have an official date attached to them. Still, if Riot’s champion cadence continues to hold, we could potentially see Zaahen in one of the next several patches before 2025 ends.
Of course, until an official announcement is made about Zaahen, he continues to be in leak territory. Nevertheless, another Darkin bruiser for League of Legends is already building hype within the community.
