Looks like the Wukong rework will finally take place in the upcoming 10.6 patch and we can say that the Monkey King mains out there have a reason to celebrate. The changes will impact his overall playstyle, pushing him more towards a bruiser-type of a champion.
So Riot Augustus has revealed the final Wukong changes that will hit the Rift in the next week's 10.6 patch. We have to say that even though it is a downgrade from the last update, the rework will surely improve Wukong's performance and win rate once it hits the live servers.
First of all, let's talk about the roles he could be played as. Since his overall AD scaling got nerfed, for example his E damage is scaling with AP now, we will perhaps not be seeing in the mid lane anymore. It's safe to say that the two primary roles he will be played as are top lane and jungle.
His jungle gameplay got buffed, especially with the new passive (Stone Skin) which will add some sustain in the jungle, something he really lacked in the pre-reworked version. This will also improve his overall trading both in the jungle and on the lane.
His W (Warrior Trickster) got its wall dash removed, compared to the previous changes that Augustus revealed, and now works just like Vayne's Tumble - both of the spells even have the same 300 units range. As mentioned before, Wukong's E (Nimbus Strike) has had its AD scaling removed which will greatly impact his assassination potential.
The ultimate ability can now be cast twice at the same time, allowing you to knock your foe up in the air two times. This could become a huge tool for team fights because if you properly time your combo, together with your clone - you can single-handedly shift games in your favour.
All things considered, this rework will most certainly push Wukong back in the meta, especially considering that two of his big counter picks, Darius and Garen, are getting nerfed in the exact same patch where he gets his overhaul.
