Hunter: The Reckoning - Deathwish developed by Teyon and published by Nacon has been officially announced, returning the long-running franchise over 20 years later.
Previewed during the Xbox Partner Preview, Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish is a first-person single-player action RPG inspired by monster hunting, player agency, and living through consequences.
Set in a massive playable rendition of New York City, Deathwish‘s story revolves around supernatural entities living secretly amongst normal humans, with players stepping into the boots of a Hunter, someone who discovered the truth about the world and took a stand against it.
Players will explore the city and complete side quests, investigations, and search for clues to further their preparations before jumping into hunts against all sorts of enemies.
Gameplay Built Around Choice and Strategy
Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish wants players to approach situations however they see fit, allowing for multiple methods when taking on all threats. During gameplay you can:
- Engage in ranged or up close combat
- Utilize stealth mechanics
- Prepare for battle and stay aware of your surroundings
These are just a few examples of how you can take on foes, each battle may call for different tactics based on enemy and location.
Players can team up with five companions, each with their own strengths and personal quests. You can rely on your allies to help you out during hunts. Players will also be able to cultivate relationships with your companions as you progress through the main story.
A game set in the World of Darkness universe would not be complete without meaningful choices that impact the story. Your decisions during conversations and quests will have lasting impacts on the world around you, change relationships, and alter how certain factions perceive you.
Players can even gain infamy which can lead to consequences such as being hunted down by law enforcement or your own teammates.
