Hades 2 has officially been announced for consoles. Developer Supergiant Games recently confirmed that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version of the roguelike sequel will launch on April 14.
The critically praised title originally launched earlier this year for PC and Nintendo consoles, but will now be accessible to even more players. This launch will also feature day-one Game Pass support and Xbox Play Anywhere features.
Available day-one for subscribers of Xbox’s Game Pass, Hades 2 will easily be accessible for console players at launch. The title will also support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to retain their progress between console and PC if purchased through the Microsoft Store.
A New Protagonist and Story
Zagreus won’t be the star of this show. Hades 2 follows a new protagonist named Melinoë, Zagreus’ sister. The game takes a turn for the darker as players follow Melinoë on her journey to defeat Chronos, who has overtaken the House of Hades and kidnapped her family.
Melinoë trains with the witch Hecate to take her family’s estate back.
What’s New in Hades 2?
Supergiant Games has said that they want to expand on their successful gameplay formulas by introducing several new facets to Hades 2.
These features include:
- Combat variations with new weapons
- Mana abilities and charged attacks
- Farming and resource management
- Arcana cards that provide passive bonuses
Additionally, players will be able to venture to new worlds outside of the Underworld, such as Olympus.
A Bigger and More Ambitious Sequel
Offering more game content, polished combat, and deeper progression mechanics, Hades 2 aims to exceed what made its predecessor a smash-hit game. New gameplay mechanics and a new playable character allow the sequel to stand on its own while maintaining roguelike hack-and-slash insanity.
