Guerrilla Games have revealed that the upcoming Horizon MMO will feature a new cast of characters and unique and stylised look.
Guerrilla Games are actively hiring for their new projects and today, the studio have revealed a fresh batch of open positions for an online Horizon project, which could be the rumoured Horizon MMO, made in partnership with Guild Wars publisher NCSoft .
Horizon Forbidden West developer confirmed that the online project will feature a new cast of characters and interestingly, a unique stylised look so don't expect super realistic graphics. This is probably due to optimisation, given that it's an MMO and you know how messy these can get when 100 shiny players appear in one place.
"A new internal team is developing a separate Online Project set in Horizon's Universe, featuring a new cast of characters and a unique stylized look, friends will be able to explore the majestic wilds of Horizon together," it's written in the Guerrilla Games' announcement on Twitter.
Horizon MMO is yet to be properly announced by Guerrilla. We don't even know if the rumour about the NCSoft partnership is legit but given that the studio confirmed this is indeed an external project, it does look like that part of the rumour is legit.
As for the actual gameplay, the studio mentioned players being able to explore the world together so expect co-op. We also expect to see large mechanical beasts so a Monster Hunter-like gameplay is probably the best description for the project.
Hopefully, we'll get to hear more about these new Horizon projects soon and see some gameplay too. Guerrilla and Sony are surely going to milk the franchise over the next several years but if all these titles end up being quality releases, then we don't mind them doing that at all.
