Ubisoft are yet to give an official response so we're still in Rumourville, and the latest word on the proverbial street is that Far Cry 6 will be closer to Far Cry 3 in terms of atmosphere and location.

Far Cry 6 has never been officially announced but Ubisoft's decision to move five games into fiscal 2021 was the first proper hint. The list included Watch Dogs: Legion, Gods & Monsters and Rainbow 6: Quarantine and two others.

One of these has since been confirmed as Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, which leaves Far Cry 6 the main suspect for a mystery triple-A. Well, that's unless you're still hoping that Prince of Persia or Splinter Cell stand a chance of returning.

Gamereactor.dk reported that Far Cry 6 will be leaving North America and going to a more exotic setting, which is more akin to what you'd call a traditional Far Cry experience.

Other signs by the road suggest the same, as a French streamer going by the Twitter handle xj0nathan tweeted  "From what I know, it will be quite close to Far Cry 3 in terms of location and atmosphere."

Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 location surveys reportedly included a few that would fit the bill, including one that mentions dinosaurs, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Just about every rumour about Ubisoft's latest batch of games has been on point, so we're hoping that the Far Cry 6 one will too. Until then, however, do take everything you read with a grain of salt.

The only thing we can say for sure is that Ubisoft will have a lot of new stuff to show come July 12, 2020, when they'll be holding the Ubisoft Forward event, so hopefully Far Cry 6 makes the list.
