Well, critics can talk themselves to death now because ultimately, it's numbers that count and when it comes to numbers Far Cry 5 is doing great. The game tops the UK boxed sales chart for the second week running, which says enough really.

Bear in mind that we're talking about boxed copies only, which serve more as an indicator of actual sales than a final statistical analysis. Furthermore, the week was pretty quiet in regards to new releases and such, remains almost identical to the last week's chart. Almost.

Far Cry 5 has endured a sales dip of 69 per cent but it still wasn't enough to yank the pole position away from Ubisoft's cult hunting shooter. Moreover, don't be alarmed by the above percentage, because it's a common figure for triple A titles after launch.

Second and third places remained unchanged as well, with EA's FIFA 18 and Rare's Sea of Thieves reporting 26 and 32 per cent lower sales, respectively. Forza Motorsport 7 climbed to fourth spot, albeit this is said to be due to some heavy discounts.

Mario Kart 8: Deluxe dropped from fourth to seventh spot whereas Brendan Greene and Co's PUBG remains firmly in fifth place. Same goes for Call of Duty: WWII.

Old man Grand Theft Auto V is keeping up bigtime, embarrassing its much younger competition, climbing up to eighth from tenth spot last week. With the game having been declared the most lucrative commercial entertainment product of all time, Rockstar will be laughing all the way to the bank. Central bank, probably.

Super Mario Odyssey and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy have both found their way into the top 10, sitting in ninth and tenth place, respectively.

Mario and Crash have managed to push out Assassin's Creed: Origins and A Way Out, who are now not featured in the top 10. The list is as follows:

  • Far Cry 5
  • FIFA 18
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Forza Motorsport 7
  • PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
  • Call of Duty: WWII
  • Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
