Codemasters announced that F1 2019 is arriving on 28 June 2019, which is two months earlier than usual. In a short teaser trailer, a silhouette of an F2 car has been spotted which could suggest the introduction of a second-tier competition.
Codemasters' annual Formula 1 game has been officially announced and it's coming a bit earlier than expected. In a short trailer, the British developer Codemasters revealed that F1 2019 is hitting the shelves on 28 June 2019.
In the last three years, Codemasters' Formula 1 game usually released in mid-August, but it looks like the devs are aiming to wrap up the 2019's release a couple of months earlier.
As for the teaser trailer, well, it looks like Codemasters' F1 series are up for a big addition that could expand and add more depth to the career mode. The trailer features silhouettes of many F1 cars, but at the very end, a Formula 2 car appears with its shark fin.
Although Codemasters are yet to confirm the introduction of Formula 2 cars in F1 2019, the teaser was a pretty strong suggestion that we're getting a second tier Formula competition in the upcoming racing simulation.
The exciting part is, of course, the career mode and how Codemasters plan to connect F1 and F2 competitions. For example, it would be nice to see a feature that would allow players to start their careers in Formula 2 and fight their way up to the most prestigious racing championship, and ultimately the world champion title.
Codemasters say that F1 2019 has been in development for nearly two years, which makes it the most ambitious release in the franchise history. They also mentioned that several new game features are planned and will be revealed in the upcoming months.
The studio also confirmed that players will be able to get behind the wheel of a 2019 regulation car specifically designed in collaboration with F1’s technical team, headed up by Ross Brawn and Pat Symonds.
F1 2019 will release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
