Escape from Tarkov is set for a busy first half of 2026. Battlestate Games shared its tentative roadmap today up through Q2, and even after last November’s 1.0 release, Escape from Tarkov has maintained a consistent patch schedule with the studio promising many improvements and content additions in upcoming patches.
The highlight of the roadmap is undoubtedly Patch 1.0.5.0 which will launch in Q2 2026 with a new boss and a major in-game event. The new boss has yet to be named, but it’s likely that players will be introduced to them through this event.
Patch 1.0.4.0 Focuses on Technical Improvements
Prior to the headline Q2 update players will receive optimisation and gameplay focused Patch 1.0.4.0.
Highlights include:
- DLSS 4.5 support
- Under-the-hood improvements to story task and reward delivery
- Rewinded weapon animations and aim transition movement
- Added sound effects for tossed magazines
- Raid reconnect system overhaul
- Balancing tweaks and QOL adjustments
Patch 1.0.4 continues Battlestate’s work on stability and foundational systems post-full release.
Patch 1.0.5.0 Introduces a New Boss
Patch 1.0.5.0 is scheduled for Q2 2026 and will contain the largest content addition of any update this roadmap period.
Confirmed features include:
- A new, currently unidentified boss character
- Major in-game event
- Match Loading / Raid Exit timer enhancements
- Interface enhancements outside of raids
- Culling System Update - targeted at increasing in raid performance
- Vegetation overhaul on all locations
- Additional balancing fixes and quality-of-life changes
- New PMC customisation options
More Content Planned for Late 2026
Battlestate Games has also stated that more updates are coming in H2 2026. Whether it’s the performance patches, a new boss fight and large scale event incoming, Escape from Tarkov’s 2026 roadmap looks to be aiming to continue progressing the extraction shooter past its original 1.0 release.
