Battlestate Games will soon be delivering Escape from Tarkov version 1.0 after nearly a decade in development. The 1.0 trailer arrived, detailing some of the most massive changes headed to the extraction shooter and giving players their first proper look at the new maps, systems and long-awaited features that will shape the next era of Tarkov.

As the update is set to land tomorrow, the trailer’s arrival has placed community excitement at its highest level in years. Featuring a nostalgic look at key moments from the game’s developmental history, the trailer then cuts to showcase the modern state of Tarkov.

As usual, the footage has a ton of brutal deaths, chaotic firefights and extraction attempts. However, the more important details are in the new mechanics and environments scattered throughout, offering a clear look at how the game will evolve for its full release.

Escape from Tarkov 1.0 Trailer Breakdown

The 1.0 trailer was filled with significant details and solidifies several major features confirmed for the next update. First, the most major aspect is a new location being added to the game. Harbour is a large map filled with docks, warehouses, industrial areas, and claustrophobic interior combat spaces. The level design and environment is looking to be a good mix of mid-range engagements and tight close quarters firefights.

This is welcome news for Tarkov players who are used to the same pool of maps and are looking for some new tactical variety. Version 1.0 will also be introducing playable traders. Throughout the trailer we can see players conversing directly with traders inside open and active locations rather than through menus.

This is a pretty major change to the progression system and can point to players being able to complete mission work, barter, or increase their reputation inside raid locations. Assuming this feature will be implemented with all major traders it could have a significant impact on how objective based play flows in Tarkov.

We also see the introduction of a new enemy faction in the trailer, The Black Division. The army of heavily armed and coordinated soldiers shown in the trailer is looking to be the most dangerous enemy threat to enter the game to date.

Their presence also hints at a bit more structure to PvE threats in raids and more heavily story based missions or events in the game.
