Escape from Tarkov has been updated with patch 1.0.4.5, which contains a diverse variety of performance optimisations, weapon buffs/nerfs, and bug fixes.

Most changes revolve around stability and tweaking core systems for players who find themselves raiding/stuck in menus for extended periods of time.

Performance Improvements, Balance Changes and Fixes

Performance and Optimisation

Developers made some backend optimisations for smoother gameplay and quicker loading times:

  • Increased cap for FPS in menus, along with a new option to adjust FPS in settings
  • Smoothed out performance in off-raid screens
  • Decreased exit times from raids by reworking various post-raid mechanisms
  • Optimised animation system and audio engine
  • Added updated player culling system to Lighthouse, Shoreline, Woods, Ground Zero
  • Optimisation passes coming to Streets of Tarkov (environment & geometry)
  • PvE Zone raids will now protect players' task progression if the game crashes

Gameplay and Systems Changes

  • Minor updates were made to various game mechanics and systems.
  • Updated how the left-shoulder firing stance behaves around obstacles.
  • K/D ratios will now only accrue kills against PMC players.
  • Added customisation items, gear, and weapons from EFT: Arena Season 2.

Weapon Balancing Updates

  • Barrels will now have clearer tradeoffs (longer barrel = better recoil control, worse ergonomics).
  • Handguards will no longer affect recoil, but rather mitigate the ergonomics penalties.
  • Suppressors will hurt ergonomics more and affect recoil less.
  • These changes should allow “loud” weapon configurations to be more viable.
  • Made some minor adjustments to buttstocks.

Weapon stat improvements include better recoil and ergonomics for:

  • AK series, AUG variants, HK G36 and HK 416A5
  • FN SCAR-L and SCAR-H, SIG MCX variants
  • Mk47 Mutant, RD-704, Velociraptor
  • Machine guns and high-calibre rifles

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed several visual issues regarding twitching dead bodies and floating bots.
  • Fixed several damage registration issues that occurred after weapon malfunction events.
  • Fixed several progression-blocking issues and quest bugs.
  • Fixed issues regarding loot behaviour / item interaction.
  • Fixed various UI, Animation, and On-screen display bugs.
  • Fixed issues relating to smoke grenades and inability to pick up armor/placing raid chests in saferooms.
