It's safe to say that Elden Ring has become one of the most anticipated games in the last couple of years, mainly due to lack of official news and gameplay reveal. As you may know, it's been over a year since From Software talked about Elden Ring.
Back in 2019, the devs revealed a teaser trailer for the game and many assumed that Elden Ring could be set to release sometime in the first half of 2020 but sadly, that did not happen. Rumours suggested that the game was delayed internally and on top of this, COVID-19 pandemic happened, slowing down the development even further.
However, according to ResetEra insider taepo, who claims to have solid sources regarding Elden Ring, the game was never scheduled to release in 2020. Instead, FromSoftware aimed to release the game in March 2021, which is the same timeframe as their last release - Sekiro Shadows Die Twice - which also arrived in March.
Insider claims that additional delay of two to three months is expected due to COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges which occurred when the devs switched to working from home.
Many fans expect to see Elden Ring at The Game Awards 2020 show which goes live on December 10, 2020, and there's a chance that might happen. Some reliable sources like VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb said there's a high possibility the game won't be shown at all in 2020 barring a potential reveal at TGA. Fingers crossed.
