Elden Ring has sold over 12 million copies in its first month which is more than Bethesda's iconic RPG Skyrim managed during the same time period.
Elden Ring developer From Software have officially revealed the first sales numbers for their big action RPG Elden Ring, which took the internet by storm since its launch.
According to From Software, Elden Ring has sold over 12 million copies in its first month, which is certainly a staggering achievement.
"The brand new action RPG ELDEN RING has sold more than 1M units in Japan and 12M units worldwide," the official statement says.
When compared to previous From Software titles, Elden Ring appears to be the most successful game ever for From Software. Dark Souls 3, the pinnacle of the series, managed to sell 10 million copies in total. Dark Souls 3 was released in 2016.
From Software games - sold copies:
- Elden Ring - 12 million
- Dark Souls 3 - 10 million
- Dark Souls - 5.5 million
- Sekiro - 5 million
- Dark Souls 2 - 2.5 million
- Bloodborne - 2 million
- Demon's Souls - 1 million
It's safe to say that Elden Ring is the first From Software title to get a massive mainstream following, which was not the case for previous From Software games, which usually had a much smaller target audience.
Elden Ring took the spotlight from other major releases such as Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and Dying Light 2. All of these games were released close to From Software's title.
On Steam, Elden Ring peaked at 953,426 concurrent players, which puts the game in sixth place in the most played games of all time category on Steam.
Given how everyone is playing and talking about Elden Ring, it's safe to expect that the game will break even more sales records during its lifetime.
