FromSoftware's Elden Ring is a fantasy action RPG directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki based on the world-building lore of Game of Thrones' author George R.R. Martin. Since the game's initial release in 2022, it has won countless accolades for its unparalleled world-building, deep lore, and iconic characters.
Players have spent hundreds of hours in the Lands Between, and to add to their opportunity of exploration, FromSoftware is releasing a new DLC titled Shadow of the Erdtree to dive deeper into the game's lore.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree was revealed back in 2023, and since then, FromSoftware has released details regarding the DLC here and there. In a recent story trailer, further details about the DLC's storyline was finally revealed to players worldwide.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Story trailer gives insight into the DLC's Storyline
The recent trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC dives deep into the game's lore by focusing on more darker secrets. The game seems to be based on the original game character, Miquella, the demigod elder twin brother of Melania. In the DLC, we might see why Miquella abandoned his powers to fight off a new evil force symbolised by the Messmer’s flame.
Miquella is a major part of Elden Ring's storyline. The demigod is related to Melania and Mohg. In the original story, we saw Miquella's efforts to make a new order, the Haligtree which led to his abduction by his half-brother Mohg.
The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC trailer shows FromSoftware diving deep into Miquella's follow-up storyline. As per the story trailer, players will join forces with Miquella to fight the tyranny of the Golden Order.
A highly anticipated addition to the lively lore of Elden Ring, players will have to wait until June 21, 2024, to play the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and unravel the storyline of Miquella.
