Konami were forced to deliver some bad news to eFootball PES 2020 players today. Due to the ongoing health crisis in Japan, the studio had to delay the UEFA EURO 2020 update.
As a result of the postponement of the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament and the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has today announced that the upcoming UEFA EURO 2020 downloadable content (DLC) for eFootball PES 2020 has been delayed until further notice.", they wrote.
The UEFA EURO 2020 update was announced back in March and had there not been for the coronavirus outbreak, it would've launched on 30 April 2020.
Unfortunately, Japan has declared a state of emergency, which further complicates matters and renders any speculation pretty much pointless.
Most eFootball PES 2020 players were quite excited over the prospect of a physical release of UEFA EURO 2020 as well. After all - Konami's game was the official video game partner of the competition and even had its own cover.
Needless to say, the plans for a physical release of the DLC have been put on hold as well, and it seems like the dev dropped the idea altogether.
Konami wrote that the UEFA EURO 2020 update will surely find its way to eFootball PES 2020 players, but most likely as a digital download instead of a proper borelease.
Konami are clearly disappointed with the outcome too, at least as much as an average eFootball PES 2020 player, wink wink. Nevertheless, health and safety are everyone's priority these days, so we just want to see Konami alive and well. Balls bounce back.
