The decision comes from Konami and Serie BKT themselves, and while the league is not Italy's best, it will remain exclusive to PES 2020, which is quite a boon for more dedicated PES players and football lovers.
According to the agreement, PES 2020 gets to use the logo of Lega B, as it's called there, the trophy, official game kits, names and patches of the teams, all of which will be landing on PC and consoles on 24 October 2019.
"Konami Digital Entertainment BV and Lega B announce the agreement that provides for the BKT 19/20 Series license exclusively for PES 2020, making it the only soccer video game on consoles and mobile devices to offer the complete experience of the Series BKT", the announcement reads.
Football fans will definitely be familiar with many of the Series BKT teams, but even if you don't recognise teams like Empoli or Perugia, lower league teams often provide more fun than sticking to the big guns of Spanish and English leagues. Yeah, you know you play them all the because so do I.
A historic agreement for the Serie B which, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary , will allow its fans and not only to experience the emotions of the BKT Series championship through PF 2020 eFootball and will export the unique football of the Second Italian Division throughout the world given the international importance of the KONAMI partner", said the two in their announcement.
eFootball PES 2020's main competitor is, of course, EA's FIFA series and knowing the sort of excitement it drums up with every instalment, Konami would do well to keep up the promotional work on their game. Knowing that a healthy portion of video game footballers considers it a vastly superior football simulation, each move is likely to count.
