EA announced an agreement to acquire Respawn Entertainment on 09 November, 2017. On 01 December, they've announced that the acquisition on the "terms previously disclosed" has been finalized. Last month, EA announced that Respawn will be joining EA Worldwide Studios. Respawn will be joining BioWare, DICE and Jade Raymond’s Motive Studios among others. "The acquisition builds on a successful publishing partnership between Respawn and EA, with multiple projects currently in development - a new title in the Titanfall franchise, a game set in the Star Wars universe and a VR gaming experience" explains the press release.
If EA manages to hold on to their Star Wars license, that is.
"Under the agreement [between EA and Respawn], EA will pay $151 million in cash, and up to $164 million in long-term equity in the form of restricted stock units to employees, which will vest over four years," EA said.
Respawn Entertainment was founded by Jason West and Vince Zampella in 2010. The duo had previously worked at Infinity Ward and was responsible for the development of the Call of Duty franchise.

Titanfall and Titanfall 2 were both developed by Respwan Studios and published by their new parent company.
