FIFA 23 attracted over 10.3 million players within the first week, which is the biggest launch period in the history of the franchise.

EA have today announced a record-breaking launch for this year's instalment of their football simulation FIFA . According to EA, FIFA 23 has managed to attract over 10.3 million players within its first week.

This is, of course, a gargantuan number, and signals the biggest launch period in FIFA franchise history.

EA say that the response from the players has been nothing short of incredible and they are thrilled that players are playing in record numbers.

EA promise to keep updating the game to deliver "the most authentic and immersive experience yet."

As someone who got the game on launch, I must admit that FIFA 23 is far from the best FIFA game, at least in the Career Mode, which I love to play. But, no matter how bad FIFA becomes, players will keep buying the game and EA will be happy to continue releasing a new version each year.

EA FIFA 23 will have cross-play across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC FIFA 23 will be the last FIFA game from EA

Though, it's worth remembering that this will be the last FIFA game developed by EA since the publisher are now going with the EA Sports FC name. EA and FIFA couldn't agree on a fee that would satisfy both parties and continue the long-running partnership, which is why FIFA will be looking for other developers to develop football games under the FIFA name.

It remains to be seen if this change will impact the sales of EA's football game.
