With the new FIFA 21 trailer releasing on June 18, 2020, it quickly became the hot topic of the community, facing a lot of backlash and creating a hail of negative comments and complaints.
The trailer, being just under two minutes long, has a combination of Madden NFL and FIFA scenes, constantly switching between the two and some artistic animations, not giving much in the way new information on the whole.
This was one of the things that got under the skin of most fans , as it didn’t show a clear and concise picture of what the game will be.
Complaining about EA combining the Madden and FIFA trailers became a hot trend in the community, as many players seem to be very dissatisfied with this decision, claiming that, this way, neither game got the proper spotlight it deserved.
Some even went as far as to say, the only thing shown in the FIFA part of the trailer, was Mbappé taking a penalty kick, which is true to some extent.
But the lack of information in the trailer was not the only thing that angered fans, as many where appalled to discover the game was still being made in the Frostbite engine.
With its known problems, and the negative impact to the franchise it has had since it was implemented, fans do not have high hopes for the game as it stands now, many loyal fans even claiming they will not buy the game, because their complaints about previous titles seem to fall on deaf ears.
A big deal-breaker for many is also the lack of crossplay, with many other titles getting the feature, FIFA is still lacking behind in this department. Despite the claims EA have made in the past, about looking into implementing said feature, fans are highly sceptical of that feature coming to the game any time soon.
Possibly the last straw that broke the camels back was the news that PC players will not be getting a next-gen version, but will instead get the current-gen version only.
With PS4 and Xbox One players getting a free upgrade to the next-gen version of the game, being able to transfer all of their stats onto the new console at no extra cost, the PC players will not be getting the upgraded version of the game.
This angered many, as they argue that, if they are paying the same price for the same game, they should also receive the upgraded version of the game when it becomes available.
