Funcom revealed a ton of new Dune: Awakening details during the first developer direct live stream which aired recently including brand new gameplay, screenshots and the first beta details.
The developer confirmed that they are currently hosting closed beta test that are going well and are expected to grow over time. Specific details on the dates and platforms are yet to be announced, though, but Funcom promises new info and "a lot more of the game this year".
The beta is expected to arrive on all platforms including PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime before the launch.
How to sign up for Dune: Awakening closed beta?
It's fairly simple. All you have to do is visit Funcom's official website and click on the "Beta Signup" button in the top right corner. A small window will pop up, asking you to register your email address.
Shortly after that, you should get a confirmation email, stating that you're now one of the candidates for the upcoming closed beta tests.
And that's pretty much it. If you are selected for one of the upcoming tests, Funcom will notify you via your email with all the deets.
It's safe to assume that Funcom will also host an open beta, to allow all players to join in and try the game while at the same time, helping them stress test their servers which need to be ready for launch.
Dune: Awakening does not have a release date at the moment which suggests it's not coming anytime soon. If we had to guess, we'd say that 2025 is probably a safe bet as 2024 seems unlikely given that Funcom seems reluctant to talk about the date.
Given the scope and the ambition of Dune: Awakening, it's not surprising that the dev team will need plenty of time to make this one shine.
