Double Dragon Gaiden is coming this year to give us another dose of retro beat 'em up nostalgia.

Modus Games popped a trailer that announced Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is coming in 2023 at some point during the summer.

The game is developed by Secret Base and it is coming to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

Once again, the players will assume the role of two martial artists, Billy and Jimmy Lee, who are duking it out in the chaotic streets that often see riots, criminal activity and more.

This time around, however, they are joined by Marian and Uncle Matin. The former is no longer a kidnap victim you need to free but rather a firearm-totting fighter that actively participates in the adventure. Uncle Matin is a bruiser with a riot shield and given his stature, it should be fun seeing him go up against Abobo.

That is not all. The four fighters are only what you get in the beginning, with nine others being unlockable throughout the game which should offer plenty of replayability.

On top of that, the game uses tag team abilities and character swapping on the go, meaning the combos are virtually endless, allowing you to never play the same one as long as you want to beat 'em up in new ways.

As per usual, the game features local co-op so one copy is enough to have fun with your friends from the comfort of a single couch.
