EA DICE made many Battlefield V players angry when they introduced TTK changes, but apparently, the community blowback was bigger than anticipated as the developers have decided to completely revert the changes on 18 December 2018.

Time to kill (TTK) and time to death (TTD) are metrics used in shooter games, where the first one determines how fast a shooter can kill their opponent, while the second one determines the time the opponent has to react to shots being fired at them.

Battlefield V had a short TTK to begin with, due to DICE aiming to deliver a more realistic and hardcore combat system, which many players actually liked. What the didn't like was not being able to react at all when being shot at, since they would often die in two or three frames, which is a tiny fraction of a second.

This didn't happen only due to TTK being short, but rather due to Battlefield V's problems that didn't communicate the shots early enough, and resulted in TTD being shorter than TTK.

To compensate for this, EA DICE rolled out an update that increased TTK, instead of fixing the issues that caused TTD to be shorter than intended. This update manifested much to the community's chagrin, which they showed on the forums with many complaints.

Now it appears that EA DICE listened to them as they decided to revert all of the mentioned changes, back to the old values. Simply reverting them will apparently not be the end of dealing with these issues though, as the developers have announced they would look further into fixing TTD, as the changes gave them more insight into what was causing the problems.

It remains to be seen whether the new info acquired by DICE will help, but the veteran players will be happy to know their game is reverting to the state they came to like on 18 December 2018 at 04:00 AM PT / 07:00 AM ET / 01:00 PM CET.
