Bungie have posted another developer update on their official website, with many planned quality of life updates for Destiny 2. The one that grabbed the most attention among them is that you will be less likely to get duplicate exotics.
Bungie continue working on Destiny 2 even though Destiny 3 is seemingly under development right now, and players should not worry about Destiny 2's support in the near future as Year 3 annual pass is also planned. The latest edition of This Week at Bungie confirmed these theories as the developers laid out a mini roadmap with changes that are to be expected in the next few patches.
The major quality of life update will revolve around exotics, as a weighting system will be introduced. If you played Destiny 2, you may as well be familiar with the joy of finding a yellow exotic engram. That joy could be crushed mere moments later though, as you found that you already have an identical exotic as the one that just dropped, so Bungie have decided to shake the system up a bit.
This means that the system will take into account any exotics that you have found earlier, and make their drop rate lower. Therefore, you will have a higher chance to get a new exotic as opposed to a duplicate. Duplicates can still drop, but they will also have a higher chance to be armour pieces as these have random perks so they will not be as useless as two identical weapons.
On top of these changes, exotic weapons that can be earned from quests will be removed from loot pools altogether in order to minimise the chance of duplicates. For example, you will no longer get Malfeasance or Ace of Spades from engrams.

Update 2.0.5 will bring more quality of life changes, all of which can be found on the . These changes should launch together with the Destiny 2 weekly update on Tuesday, 30 October 2018. Huh, seems like this Halloween will favour treats rather than tricks after all.
