Death Stranding can be claimed at no cost over at Epic Games Store if you are looking for a post-apocalyptic FedEx simulator.
Kojima Productions is developing a sequel and it's possible the marketing for the game will ramp up over the next few months, with the giveaway being a way to attract more people to the franchise.
In order to claim the game, simply go to the Death Stranding page on EGS, where you will see a "Get" button in place of what would normally be "Buy Now".
Once that's done, confirm the "purchase" and the game will be in your library, available for download whenever you feel like it.
Keep in mind that this is not the Director's Cut, which can be purchased as an upgrade to the base version. That said, you won't miss out on much even if you don't get it so don't sweat it.
Death Stranding features several celebrities from the big screen, a pile of cutscenes and weird gameplay where you need regular inputs while walking to avoid falling down.
The game will be available at no cost until May 25, 2023, at 8:00 AM PST / 11:00 AM EST / 4:00 PM BST / 5:00 PM CEST.
