It looks like Crytek's next big title could be a free-to-play battle-royale set in the Crysis universe. The latest leak reveals first details about a game named Crysis Next.
Shortly after the announcement of Crysis Remastered, Crytek confirmed via a job listing on their website that a brand new AAA game is in the works. The details about the project are pretty scarce at the moment but it seems this new game could be set in the Crysis universe.
According to the latest leak, which you can check out below, Crytek are working on a title named Crysis Next, a free-to-play, battle royale game for more than 100 players. Here are the details from the leaked documents:
Crysis Next is a free-to-play Battle Royale game where 100s of players collide in the fast-paced combat. Visual customisation, adaptive Nanosuit powers and visually spectacular combat in an immersive world create the ultimate live streaming experience. The Crysis franchise has all the features to make a Battle Royale standout. The gameplay. The style and setting. High production value.
In addition to the text, you can see that leaked documents also feature artwork for the game. It's safe to say that it looks pretty cool, showing a character with a Nanosuit and some other features that we didn't get to use in previous Crysis games.
On the back, you can see something that reminds of a jetpack, a popular gadget we got to see in other battle royale titles like Apex Legends and Fortnite.
Before you get all excited about Crysis Next, we suggest you wait for the official confirmation from Crytek as this is just a rumour at the moment. That being said, the leak does look legit and Crytek already have experience with free to play but also battle royale-like shooters in Warface and Hunt: Showdown, respectively.
