Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is celebrating the holidays with two game modes: Drop Zone and Snowfight.
Drop Zone:
The classic Drop Zone is back and the game mode shares similarities with Hardpoint as well as other objective-based modes with two clear differences: the only way to earn Killstreaks is by holding the objective and you earn additional points for each team member inside the drop zone. More players = more points.
When in the Drop Zone, players will need to battle for the possession of the objective to win. You'll earn points by staying inside the designated zone and the first team to reach the required point total or hold the most points when the timer reached zero will be declared victorious.
Killstreaks can only be earned through care packages that continually deploy while the drop zone is secured. The zone will move around the map and you'll recognise it by a Care Package marker and red smoke.
Snowfight:
With this year's Christmas and New Year just around the corner, a whole new game mode has popped up - the aptly named Snowfight. Snowballs have replaced the usual random weaponry and will let you re-live the simpler days of a carefree childhood.
You will find that Snowfight plays similar to Gunfight O.S.P. (On-Site Procurement): you start with no Snowballs and must pick them up and fling them in the general direction of your opponents. Hitting the target will result in damage.
Speaking of damage: there are two sorts of snowballs that will unleash varying amounts of harm onto your foes. The White Snowballs deal soft damage and you need three to four of these babies to hit their target to take them out. The naughty Yellow Snowballs can one-shot an enemy so be sure your aim is on point.
The Snowfight game mode can be played on Gunfight’s Holiday-themed Docks map: Winter Docks and six rounds are needed to claim victory.

There's a global Double XP and Double Tier earn rate that is now active. You can use the event to raise your rank and accelerate your tier progress until 27 December at 6:00 pm GMT.
