In a recent developer stream, CD Project Red discussed Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales at great length, revealing that the game will offer 30 hours of gameplay along with 200 original cards, a ton of voice lines, localisation, etc.
The dev pointed out that Thronebreaker started off as a Gwent story mode, only to be expanded into the old school, isometric RPG it is today. That being said, they said they took some creative liberties with card design, the sort that would probably destroy Gwent's multiplayer balance but fit like a glove in Thronebreaker.
The game will come with three difficulty modes - Story, Normal and Hard, where story seems to be a linguistic replacement for easy. In fact, Thronebreaker players who end up playing the Story mode will be able to skip matches, even if they lose them, so the general focus is definitely on the story. Well, in the Story mode at least, because the remaining two won't be cutting you any slack.
Speaking of the story, CDPR already have 20 endings, or states of the world as they call it. These will depend on the players' in-game choices and will guarantee a healthy dose of replayability for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
Interestingly, CDPR recorded more voice lines for Thronebreaker than they did while making Hearts of Stone, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's expansion. From what we've seen so far, it seems to be a top notch work too, in line with The Witcher series.
One of the best parts of CDPR's announcement of Thronebreaker were the preorders, or more like the way that the company presented them. Firstly, the company made sure they converted the currencies, so that Europeans don't get the traditionally shorter end of the stick. Then they advised players that if they have any doubts over the game, they should wait for reviews .

CDPR insists they'd rather have you decide and buy the game on your own, rather than enticing you by dangling exclusive gear carrots in front of your face. Class act, if we've ever seen one.
